I think in the long run selling cuts is the most profitable way to make gold because if you have rare cut patterns you can make way more than selling an uncut gem that someone has to cut in order to use. It's just more valuable. Then again for lower level gems like green cuts you might be better off just selling the uncut gems for people to use while leveling up.
